Dr. Jaerock Kwon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Dr. Kwon has three major research interests: (1) Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, (2) Autonomous Vehicles, Self-Driving Cars, Intelligent Robotics, and (3) Computational Neuroscience and Neuroanatomy.
Recently, he received a grant from NSF to support acquiring an autonomous plug-in hybrid vehicle platform from 2022 to 2025.
His development plan for 3D tissue scanner with Internet-connected 3D virtual microscope was supported by NSF from 2013 to 2017. This instrument is an essential tool for large-scale automated histology.
He received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in 2009 from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA. His M.S. and B.S in Electronic Communication Engineering are from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea.
His research lab at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is the Bio-Inspired Machine Intelligence (BIMI) Laboratory.
