My research proposal, “Markerless 3D Human Motion Inference Framework from 2D Videos using Deep Learning,” has been selected for funding. This project is scheduled to start in May 2020 and end in December 2021.

A new project, “Development of Autonomous Vehicle Research Platform using Deep Learning and Robot Operating System” has been approved. This project is sponsored by the Institute for Information & Communication Technology Promotion (IITP), Korea.
This project is the 2nd phase of a project that was conducted at Kettering University from July 2019 to December 2019.

Through this collaborative research project with Hanyang Univeristy-ERICA, Korea, I will host two graduate students from Korea to build an autonomous vehicle research platform using Deep Learning and Robot Operating System.
Dr. Kwon has received a collaborative research grant from Grand Valley State University (Center for Scholarly and Creative Excellence (CSCE)) for the project, “3D Modeling of Human Motion from 2D Video Images Using Al-based Markerless Inference Framework” in April 2019
Dr. Kwon has received 2018 Faculty Research Fellowship award. The title of the research topic is “Development of Experimental Setup for Evaluating Vehicular Communication System (V2X).”
Dr. Kwon has received 2016 Outstanding Researcher Award.
Dr. Kwon has received 2015 Faculty Research Fellowship award. The title of the research topic is “A Touch-Enabled Virtual Room for Scientific Data Exploration.”
